Dana Collins

Ann & David Feinstein were the classic two-income professional couple. Network Marketing Professional
Eric Worre
Eric got involved in network marketing when his dad and his dad's partner in the real estate company he was working for persuaded him to come along with them to an opportunity meeting for National Safety Associates (NSA). They signed up that night and so did Eric. Why? He didn't want to be left behind.

In Eric's very first month in the business, he made over $7,000. Second month, more than $12,000. And his third month was… (begs for a drum-roll) … $1098.60. When that showed up, Eric thought that's what he was truly worth. He's always been a $5 an hour guy, and clearly he still was. Those first two months were pure fluke.

About the Master


Eric Worre is a college dropout. He never even completed his first trimester when an injury dashed his hopes of playing big league football. Having no other dream or desire, he left college for the working world, and work he did. Eric had 18 different jobs before he was 22 years old. He sold peanuts at the Metrodome, rented out boats, bussed and waited tables, washed dishes and cooked, even started his own tanning salon. Finally, reluctantly, he joined his father in his dad's real estate partnership.

Eric's first year he made $45,000— and he only spent $60,000. He hadn't saved a thing for taxes. He needed money. Badly.

Eric's dad and his business partner were invited to a network marketing opportunity presentation about National Safety Associates (NSA) and they encouraged Eric to come along. At that meeting Eric overheard the man who was introducing them to the business tell his father, "Eric's going to crush this thing. He's going to beat us all!"

His first month in the business, Eric made $7500, $12,000 in his second month. And true to form, he spent every penny as soon as it came in. In his third month, Eric's income plummeted to $1000. "I was lucky those first two months," he said. "That third month showed me I was still just a $5/hr guy."

But Eric hung-in and kept on keeping-on. Most importantly what he kept on was learning— leaning the business from top to bottom. In his second and third years, Eric made a very respectable $90K and $110K. With his partner John Joyce, he also started a marketing-tools business leading with a recruiting video called "The Solution." That was a $3 million business.

Then the company hit a brick wall. There was bad press on Inside Edition. It was ugly and sales stopped, everything stopped— his commissions, video sales, everything. Eric, along with everybody else, was forced to go looking for a new home.

After researching "tons of companies," they found what they wanted with a security products company called Quorum International. As Eric tells it, he and his friends crossed all kinds of boundaries in recruiting for the new company. Looking back, he's not proud of that effort, and… it is what it was and it worked. When he joined the company Quorum was doing about $1 million a month in sales. By December of 1992 that figure had exploded to $14 million a month.

Eric became a top distributor and eventually accepted the position of President of Global Operations. He soon learned that the company ownership had no intention of establishing a long-term enterprise. When their unwillingness to change and "do the right thing" became clear, Eric resigned his position and walked away from the substantial income he'd spent years building.

One of the things Eric was part of pioneering at Quorum was a private satellite system for the sales force featuring broadcasts of business education and training, opportunity presentations and eventually personal growth & development programming. In September of 1994 Eric and his partner co-founded The People's Network (TPN), which eventually grew into a 24 hour a day personal development television network with more than 100,000 viewers.

Throughout all of his experience— from a low-level distributor then a little company owner and then a big-level distributor, a company president, CEO, of his own company— Eric realized he was good at some things and not good at others. What he was best at, where he was happiest and where he saw the lifestyle he valued most was being a top-level distributor in a company that was building for the long-term.

Today, that's exactly the position Eric has achieved. He is a top producer with Agel Enterprises, earning an income of more than $1 million a year leading an international organization of more than 115,000 people in 45 countries around the world.

Market to Yourself
Larry Lim
At first, retired (after 28 years of service) U.S. Army Lt. Colonel, former Wall Street investment banker, real estate developer, President of the Hawaii Chamber of Commerece, owner of his own management consulting firm, team building & conflict resolution specialist, certified trainer for the Franklin-Covey Leadership Institute, instructor for the Professional Dynametrics Programs (PDP), Sylvan Learning Systems and the Pace Group, and professor (currently at Boise State University) of sales, marketing and entrepreneurship, Larry Lim knew all about network marketing— but he wouldn't touch us with a 10 foot-long (like his) curriculum vitae.

Why? Professor, Mr. Lim didn't want to be "one of those" kinds of people. He couldn't see himself as a network marketer, and more importantly— he didn't ever want to be seen as one himself. But eventually, all of that changed.

Why? Two things: The relationship-based, business-like approach of his eventual sponsor, Del Williams AND an honest assessment of his financial health which revealed five terminal problems for a 50 year old professional man: 1. About the Master


Larry Lim spent 10 years in the investment banking industry as a securities analyst for a large Wall Street brokerage firm. Later he became the principal broker for E & L Realty, a real estate development company which specialized in acquisition and development of income producing properties.

He later formed Management Solutions, a firm which provided management consulting services to large corporations and institutions in such areas as organizational and personal leadership, strategic planning, communications, personal productivity, conflict resolution, sales training, etc.

He has been a certified trainer for Franklin Quest (now known as the Franklin-Covey Leadership Institute, Professional Dynametrics Programs (PDP), Sylvan Learning Systems and the Pace Group.

He has taught sales, marketing and entrepreneurship classes for 14 years at the community college and university level in Hawaii and in Idaho.

He has spent the past eight years in the network marketing industry where he successfully built an organization of over 20,000 distributors in 17 countries.

He has been active in the business community serving as director for Small Business Hawaii and the president of the Hawaiian Chamber of Commerce. He has also been active in Junior Achievement, HOBY Leadership Academy and the National Speaker Association (NSA).

Launching a Leadership Revolution
Orrin Woodward
First, last and everywhere in-between, Orrin Woodward is an engineer with both a B.S. and B.A. degrees as well as a number U.S. Patents to his credit. There are some who say, "never try to sponsor an engineer"— it's like pushing a rock up hill. (As Orrin himself points out, "They have no people skills".) Well, it's still an effort worth considering, because today engineer Woodward has the third largest group in his company. He is a Presidential Black Diamond with MonaVie. The average income for that position earns $3.24 million a-year— and as you'll learn in this Session, Mr. Woodward is well-above "average."

Orrin began his network marketing career with Amway in what he describes as the "absolute craziest chain of events you'd ever want to hear." That was back in 1993. His business beginnings were singularly unimpressive. Even after years in the business, no matter how hard he worked— and he worked very hard— he couldn't get but a few hundred people to any of his events. But all that eventually changed and by 1999 Orrin's audiences had grown to 15,000 people and he was on Amway/Quickstar's Executive Diamond Council.

Leadership is Orrin's passion, as evidenced by his best-selling book with long-time networking business partner Chris Brady, Launching a Leadership Revolution, and his highly ranked web log, Orrin Woodward Leadership Team. "Leaders," Orrin says, "are like horses. they're no good until they're broken." For Orrin, leadership is not what you do, it's who you are. Leaders take their focus off themselves. Natural Selling
Michael Oliver
The last time I sat down for a conversation with Michael Oliver was (waaay) back on November 3 of 2006, in a Session of the same name, Natural Selling. (Click that link to go back and listen to that Session and get the added support material.) What's changed since? In the principles and practices of Natural Selling that Michael teaches— not much. In other ways— such as the financial circumstances the world is immersed and enmeshed in and the new direction needed for direct sellers and network marketers— lots… perhaps everything.

As we're learning, much of how the world works isn't working, and so it goes with network marketing. A new awareness is needed, a new paradigm shift is wanted. In our business, the number's game approach is a duplicatable system designed to duplicate failure, not success. "What if," Michael asks, "we offer an approach geared directly to helping the vast majority of the people who cannot do the business the way the few who've succeeded in the past have used? And what would that look like?

Doing What's Right For All the Right Reasons
Donna Johnson
You've heard it before; "You've got to be a product of your product." Well, scroll down a take a look at this Master's picture. Recently, a young woman in a dress shop guessed Donna Johnson's age at 35. Pretty (understated pun for sure) good for the 51 year old grandmother with five children ages 30, 28, 26 and twins who are 15 years old (who is also training for a triathlon!)

Spiritual Network Marketing
Jacques Fiset and Sophia Marcoux
When Jacques and Sophia first became involved in network marketing, they had absolutely no interest at all in the business— Sophia actually believed it was "unethical"— but they were passionately seeking an alternative to conventional medical care. Only two weeks before they got a phone call from the two people who first told them about USANA health products, Jacques woke up at 6 0'clock in the morning beside Sophia and she was (in Jacques' words) for all intents and purposes dead. They rushed to the hospital where doctors saved her life. Sophia had suffered an paralyzing epileptic seizure. Although she had never experienced one before, Sophia and Jacque knew they had to change their lives and lifestyles immediately.

The world economy is going to hell in a hand-basket— a basket with holes in the bottom and a broken handle held together tenuously with bailout wire and more than a few (billion) prayers. Should be the best of times for mlm network marketing and direct sales— the opportunity of owning your own home business being one of the few incandescent financial lights amid all the gloom and doom. But is it? Or is this economic situation completely different from all the others that have come before where networkers and their enterprises have thrived?

Back in 2002, Len Clements created an audio program called "The Coming Network Marketing BOOM! where he gave eight "rock solid" reasons our industry was destined to explode. It didn't then. MLM Help
Dale Calvert
In this Session, Calvert made a convert (at least one)— me. Maybe it's Dale's persuasive power, or perhaps I was simply (and finally) ready to get it. No matter, now I understand why and how unified, duplicatable systems— for every aspect of the business, EVERY aspect— are required for success. This wisdom comes from a man who took a decade to make $100,000 a year in Network Marketing. But the next year he made more than a million and in his 12th year, he earned more than $2 million.

Dale believes Network Marketing organizations are made up of three groups of people: First are the 3 percenters— whose m.o. is get out of the way I'm going to make it happen no matter what (these are the folks who built the industry). Then there are the 27 percenters— those are the good, honest, hard working, teachable people. Unfortunately, most of them are taught the business by the 3 percenters who just tell them to work harder without teaching them what, specifically, to do. And, they don't give them the step-by-step structure and support they need to succeed. Then of course, there are the 70 percenters who are struggling and failing. The Village of Anything Is Possible
Ed Rector
When the history of MLM Network Marketing is written— if anybody or any group of anybodies is brave and mad enough for the challenge— there will have to be a chapter about Glen W. Turner. Controversial to a fault— one of his biographies is titled "Con-man or Saint"— Mr. Turner has friends and foes and many of each. No matter where you choose to stand about him and his Dare To Be Great and Koscot International enterprises (and 78 other corporations, in 13 countries), his impact on the industry is indelible.

I've watched films of Glen Turner standing on stage and telling people to get out their checkbooks and come up front and give him money— and they did. By some accounts, many hundreds of thousands did. He was a great story teller. He collected them and commissioned them. One of his most famous stories was "The Village of Anything Is Possible." It was written long ago by a then young Max Stitts, who went on to become the author of The Spiritual Quest "An Adventure with God." The late Ed Rector, Glen Turner's long-time friend (who, as I heard the story, voluntarily went to prison with Glen to protect him and died there) turned the story into a poem.

No matter what your opinion of Glen W. Turner, this recording is an MLM Network Marketing classic. It's taken me a couple of months to find the original recording, convert it to Mp3 and get it up here. Trust it's worth the effort for you.

I first met Burke 18 years ago when, as his editor, we worked together on his million-selling book Who Stole the American Dream? He was "Hurricane Burke" back then. Lead, follow or get out of his way. Not much has changed. He's older, wiser, but not all that mellowed. Are you worth the money you're being paid— or are you worth more?
John Bentley
Back on Friday, September 5 (before my moving experience knocked me far off-track) I did Session 113, "Show Me the Money" with Ken Rolfsness. Throughout my conversations with Ken before, during and after that Session, he kept mentioning his mentor, John Bentley. So, I asked Ken to connect me with John so I could do a Session with him. Here it is.

John Bentley is flat-out fascinating for me (as I hope he will be for you, as well). To start with, the man's been in network marketing for 53 years! I've never met anyone who's been involved that long before. John began with Nutralite back in 1955. That's the the company that spawned Jay VanAndel, Rich DeVoss and Amway, and are generally credited with starting Multi-Level Marketing as we know it today. John's been with 45 companies in his career— which he says honestly and with genuine embarrassment, is "absolutely the wrong approach." John admits that his success is due in great part to consistently and persistently "failing forward." Today, he's a seven-figure annual income earner at the top of Tahatian Noni International (TNI) with a global network of more than 345,000 people in over 40 countries. He's been with the company from the very start. TNI offically opened for business on July 1 and John joined the next day. His distributor ID number is 08. That was 12 years ago.

People and team building are what's most important to John Bentley. His business is built on relationships and partnerships. John Bentley was fresh into starting college in Pasadena, California when he got a job at a restaurant three doors down from where he was going to school. John became the fry cook. He was always amazed by a growing group of people— about 10 to 12 couples— who came in a little after 9:00 every Tuesday night after they'd finished a meeting at their home. They ordered deserts and coffee and he occasionally made them sandwiches and light meals. They were always so up-beat, happy and had a great time together, so he finally asked them who they were and what they were doing. They invited him to find out for himself at one of their meetings.

The next week he swapped shifts to get off Tuesday evening and attended his very first Multi Level Marketing home meeting. The year was 1995. The company was Nutralite— the great grandpa and grandma of all MLM generations to come.

John loved the fact that network marketing allowed you to build a sales staff without any payroll or employees. He'd grown up in his dad's Las Vegas' antique and souvenir shop on Freemont Street, so he knew what it usually took to hire and train a sales staff. He liked the product, Double X. He got a charge out of how friendly and fun they all were. He signed up there and then.  

Now, 53 years later, John Bently is one of the most successful network marketers in the world. His organization of more than 345,000 people spans 41 countries around the globe. He's a Triple Diamond, Black Pearl, Marquesas Club, Independent Product Consultant with Tahitian Noni International.

John and his wife Laurie live in Orange County, California, where they pursue their passions for antiques. "We have five antique stores, and they feature a lot of trains," John said. He has also collected old cars, close to 500 dolls and over 2,000 toys. "The world of antiques is fun to be around," he said. Laurie collects Hallmark Christmas ornaments she has over 3,000 that are displayed year-round.

The Dragon, the Eagle and the Global Future of Networking

If you haven't "run the numbers" on China lately, prepare yourself to be blown very far away. Every single month a brand new city the size of Philadelphia is established in the People's Republic. China graduates 4 times as many students overall as we do in the US, but they have 1,000,000 high-tech (engineering, math, science, computer science) grads to our 60,000! Within 15 years, the Chinese economy will be greater than the US., Europe and Japan combined. Where the Eagle (that's US) once ruled, now the Dragon (China), the Elephant (India) and the Camel (the Middle East) are on track— each in their own ways— to surpass America's global leadership. As to be expected, with all of this explosive expansion come some serious problems; environmental, cultural, structural and social problems are as common in China today as they are unwanted.

So, what does all this mean for network marketing in China?

China presents challenges to network marketing, because network marketing is a challenge for China. The Chinese are by nature an entrepreneurial people— in many ways they are more capitalistic than the capitalists (300 million Chinese have $60,000 or more in the bank and they still don't use credit cards). But the Chinese authorities are very leery of grass-roots "power to the people" movements, especially in terms of too many people with economic and personal alliances and loyalties not under the government's control. The Chinese are relationship-based and team players by nature, born network marketers, but their leaders do not trust mlm. This will change, but there's just too much freedom in the leading-edge of free enterprise for the government's comfort. For now, the People's Republic will have to wait a bit longer for the People's Franchise.

Show Me The Money
Ken Rolfsness
Some people stumble over success and pick themselves up going along their merry way as if nothing had happened. Ken Rolfsness used to do that. He began his network marketing career by tripping and tumbling to the very top of Tahitian Noni International. He knew next to nothing about the product (except it couldn't hurt and just might help), less than nothing about the comp plan and how to build a business, and he was so afraid of rejection he'd pass out a ton of tapes, but never follow up. Yet he reached Tripple Diamond in nine months, Black Pearl in a year. He was only 31 years old and no one in the company's history had accomplished so much at that age and very few had done anything close in that short a time. "Ignorance on fire," was what Ken did right from the start. About the Master


Ken Rolfsness grew up in Blue Springs, Missouri, in what he describes as your typical Polynesian home. His mother is Samoan and his father Norwegian and they lived in a a small 3-bedroom house with 17 people living in it and broken cars littering the driveway.

Ken describes his family as hard workers but severely underpaid. They were living paycheck to paycheck and wearing hand-me down clothes.

Ken assumed that anyone driving a nice car or living in nice homes were probably doing something illegal. His church mission to Australia exposed him to a reality that people with up-scale cars and homes can actually be decent human beings, but Ken's own success wasn't going as well as he expected. He worked as a tire re-treader and then tried sales briefly. He married Michelle and ended up moving down under to Australia.

"I was 31 years old, living with my wife's parents, working a job and getting paid very little and not sure what to do about my future." All that changed on June 3, 1998. Ken was at the point of being fired from his real estate sales job when he heard about this "fruit juice" from someone at church. Then he listened to a tape called "Look Who's Talking About Noni." He gave the tape to his boss to get his opinion and some business advice. Instead, after hearing the tape, his boss Phil flew from Australia to Utah and visited the Tahitian Noni Internationl offices. Ken was shocked when his boss called him back from the U.S. and said "Ken, we are going to be rich!"

In September of 1998, Ken walked into his boss Phil's office and showed him how much he made in that short amount of time and quit his job. In an ironic twist of fate, Phil was so convinced about Tahitian Noni that he joined Ken in the business. In nine months, Ken was a Triple Diamond and he became a Black Pearl in a year. He went from flat broke to buying his wife a Lexus SUV and a luxury seven-bedroom house in 12 months. Today, his network has grown worldwide, generating monthly checks that are bigger than any of his his past annual incomes.

Powerful Attitudes

Success Beyond Belief
Brad Yates
I trust the double-entendre of the title isn't lost on you… What do you imagine success beyond belief would look like for you? The second meaning relates to those limiting, self-sabotaging habits of thought that are standing in the way of the success you desire, dream of and, according to Brad Yates, richly deserve. I'm Going to the Top!
John Haremza
What it takes to get to the top, John says, is passion, posture, belief and enthusiasm— four qualities John didn't have when he first entered network marketing. John didn't simply suffer from low self-esteem, he had no self-esteem at all. He was dyslexic as a child, still is, but the world is different today. When John grew up he was labeled "dumb." He barely finished high school. But, being good with his hands, John found his way into a maintenance position at a potato chip factory and when he became the supervisor he'd found his $22,000 a year "dream job."

John Haremza has attained that level of income and success that all network marketers aspire to; the $100,000+ a month, each and every month level. What is so remarkable is that John accomplished this with severe dyslexia, which meant that he could not read of write. Imagine being in high school, being put in special classes, being called out of the room for exams and being classified with retarded children. John was considered stupid by all his teachers, by fellow students and even by his parents.

John's self-esteem was so low that if he passed you in the hall he would not look up and say hello unless you spoke first. He did not have low self-esteem, he had no self-esteem.

James Barnard is the COO and the idea generator of Infinite Synergy. Because of his diverse experience in graphic design, marketing and project management, James is the visionary of Infinite Synergy's interactive training products.

Mabel Katz is a native of Argentina and a trained Certified Public Accountant (CPA). She immigrated to the United States in 1983 and has worked as a senior tax accountant for nineteen years in California, including representing clients before the Internal Revenue Service as an Enrolled Agent (EA). Additionally, Mabel is an accredited business accountant. In 1997 Mabel decided to start her own company helping fledging entrepreneurs set-up corporations and plan and execute financial and tax programs and systems. In 1999, she accepted responsibility as Event Coordinator for the California Association for Bilingual Education.

Mabel had her own radio talk show on the Spanish language radio station, KTNQ 1020 AM in Los Angeles for about three years. Currently she has her own weekly T.V. program "Despertar" on TV AZTECA, which enjoys a widespread audience.

Ms. Katz was also honored as Business Woman of the Year For 2005 by the LA Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce. In addition to the Arias Award, she received the Sol Azteca Award and the prestigious Latin Business Association's Members Choice Award.

Mabel's most revealing discovery has been her self-identity. By realizing her natural talents, she has been able to help others help themselves. Uncovering these natural gifts has come about through her practice of Self-Identity through Ho'oponopono, an ancient Hawaiian process of realizing inner peace. Dr. Ken Evoy
A MasterMind Session should, by definition, be conducted with a master mind. Such a one is this Session. Google "Ken Evoy" or his company "" and see what you get. His rankings are not only "good", they tend to be rave reviews. If there's a soft under-belly to this Session it's that at times it got a "sales pitch" flavor. Do your best to look beyond that and focus on the elements and ingredients of Ken's product mix and the philosophy that created it. He's spent 10 years proving what does and does not work on the Internet and assembling a arsenal of tips, tools and technologies to give any who want to build a successful website all they need to do so (the alternative is most often painful and more painfully expensive).

I (jmf) am impressed enough (with Dr. Evoy and his people and his offering) to get a SiteBuildIt website myself (and become an affiliate) and build it like Ken and his people tell me to. And one more thing, the guy has his heart on his sleeve about network marketers. Always a good sign.

Roberto Torres retired at the age of 46 from the Suffolk County Police Department in New York State after twenty years of service. He is a martial arts grand master and has appeared on the cover of Inside Kung Fu magazine. He lives with his wife Cleta and their four children, Sarah, Raquel, Kristina and Keila in their dream home in Dunnellon, Florida.

Gregory Mascari
Gregory has been there and done a lot of that in his 20 years of network marketing. He's built organizations of 200,000 men and women and earned more than $10 million in his career. Recently, he walked away from a company he help found and had been with for almost 10 years to begin all over again. Gregory Mascari has 20 years of full time experience in "Relationship Marketing" and has earned millions of dollars building organizations of 100's of thousands of people responsible for 100's of millions in sales. In 1998, Gregory became one of the original founding partners with Oasis/Univera Life Sciences, and for the first 4 years served as Sr. VP of Sales before he returned to the field as a Master Distributor and Director of Training.

About the Master


Lorna Rasmussen was born in Canada and started her professional life as a documentary film producer. She went on to make films for the National Film Board of Canada as well as PBS in the States and co-authored the award winning book, A Harvest Yet to Reap. She has been a personal coach and trainer with the Success Motivation Institute (one of the earliest companies in the field of personal development), a teacher at universities across Canada and the US and a business owner.

Lorna started in network marketing with The Peoples Network (TPN). The company was eventually sold to Pre-Paid Legal Services and she became a six-figure ring earner after only two years with the new company. Lorna is one of only a few women to achieve the distinction of Platinum 2 Executive Director, ranking her as one of the top 10 associates in the company.

Lorna's success in the industry really paid off a couple of years ago when she lost her home and office in a fire. "I didn't work at all on my business for six months as I dealt with the aftermath of the fire; finding a new home, settling with the insurance company, getting my son off to college and re-establishing ourselves. My husband, with his traditional business, had to return to work immediately or risk losing everything. For more than two years I only worked in my business on a very part time basis but I actually saw my income go up."

Lorna has just released the book co-authored with Paul J. Meyer, The Absolute Best Way in the World for Women to Make Money. Based on her personal experiences and Mr. Meyer's training, the book shows women (and men) what a great choice network marketing is for them and how they can position themselves for the success they deserve.

This Session was initially titled (and says so in the Intro) "Social Network Marketing On and Off-Line". My mistake. New title's more accurate and it's got the beat. With Kathi's "love" for China (as you'll hear), she'd appreciate a calligraphy scroll I treasure that was gifted to me when last in Taiwan. I admired it in a tea house and my host bought it for me. (How very Chinese.) It translates, "You are a leader of leaders." That is Kathi Minsky. Another descriptive that occurs is a "pro". She is that, too. An Internet pioneer who's trained more than 30,000 networkers "on and off-line", Kathi is all business about her relationship business. She's risen from the ashes of Excel to the top of "re-invented" Shaklee in record time. In this Session, she shares some of what she did to accomplish that. It's a lesson in leadership.
